Competitive Analysis

The factors involved in completing a competitive analysis are to identify the following :

  • key industry players including the top and bottom
  • heavy hitters
  • smaller firms with new innovations
  • the up and comers
  • client’s direct competition

Collect as much information as possible from the client as well as other resources available. Look beyond the client’s list.

There are three main areas for rating when evaluating for a Competitive Analysis:

  • overall experience-general experience when using the site
  • functionality-ease in completing the task
  • look and feel-visual appeal of the site
